Untamed: Stop pleasing, start living by Glennon Doyle
'This book will shake your brain and make your soul scream. I am so ready for myself after reading this book!' Adele
'Untamed will liberate women - emotionally, spiritually, and physically. It is phenomenal.' Elizabeth Gilbert, author of City of Girls and Eat Pray Love
Who were you before the world told you who to be?
Part inspiration, part memoir, Untamed explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet the expectations of the world, and instead dare to listen to and trust in the voice deep inside us. From the beloved New York Times bestselling author, speaker and activist Glennon Doyle.
Our Retreat Day
An ideal experience for those who enjoy interesting discussions and want to take some valuable time out.
We gather in the turret suite around 9.15 to settle in before the day starts at 9.30. We introduce ourselves over coffee, tea and pastries before beginning our first book discussion. Quotes from the book are pre-printed so we can select the themes that resonate with us, or choose a theme of our own. Group sizes are 5 or 6 people, so everyone has a chance to contribute.
After our short morning break we'll move into the relaxation area which is very spacious and set out with thick relaxing meditation cushions, blankets and soft cushions. The room is scented with an original sandalwood and mandarin aroma, hand created by the Liverpool Candle company. This is available as a candle if you want to take your experience with you. Here we will explore an overview of mindfulness and its benefits, followed by a restorative guided practice.
Lunch - 45 minutes - A light lunch of soup, salad, sandwiches and fries is included in the ticket price.
In the afternoon we'll return to the relaxation area for another mindfulness session where we'll explore the concepts and benefits of compassion and follow another guided practice.
Afternoon refreshments are provided before we return to the second book session, again supported by pre-printed quotations. We'll end the retreat with a mindful reflection and a chance to discuss the highlights of the day.
As we are right on the sea front, there's an option to take a walk along Leasowe Bay.
About the Day
This iconic book can be life changing and really thought provoking. It's a real page turner and full of humour that is completely relatable. Glennon Doyle takes us on her journey from people pleasing to pulling it all together to create the life she always wanted.
On this day we'll explore some of the themes in a respectful and supportive way. The discussions will be supported with restorative mindfulness practices. For those of you who enjoy good conversation, this day will be like a spa for the mind. You'll come away with an understanding of how mindfulness can support our resilience and well being even through the toughest of times, learning techniques that you can explore at home.
In mindfulness we have a saying that "in just turning up for yourself, you are doing something in your own greatest interest".
We'll have a dedicated area to turn into our space for the day, so we can really make ourselves comfortable. Feel free to bring blankets, mats or cushions with you, although we will provide cushions and blankets. Welcome refreshments, a light lunch and afternoon refreshments are also included. Overnight accommodation is available but should be booked separately if required.
The experience is limited to 12 people. When you reserve your spot, you will receive your personal copy of "Untamed" to read in advance of the day. Printed quotes from the book will be available on the day to support the discussions.
